'It Is Finished' by James Richards
After I was saved one of the things that astounded me most was the awesomeness of creation. All around me I could see God's amazing diversity and imagination in the things He had made. Every time I looked (and still look) at a beautiful sunset, I praised God for His Glory reflected in the beautiful sky He had painted. I took a photo of one of these sunsets and decided to do a painting of it.
I included Calvary in the foreground with three empty crosses because I was just overwhelmed that the One who made the awesome sunset in the background was also the same One that hung on the Cross for my sins.
Jesus had done everything necessary to pay the price for my forgiveness and for the forgiveness of anyone who will receive Him, and that's why He cried - It is Finished!
The tranquillity of the sunset behind the cruelty of Golgotha, emphasizes the finality of Jesus' work on the Cross, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high.
