As a church we need to pray more, not only for our own personal and pastoral issues, but also for our communities, our valley, for salvation and for revival.
Prayer is the engine that drives the church. Therefore, starting on Friday 6th November we are launching ‘The Engine Room’ – a monthly half-night of prayer. The Engine Room will take place at The Hope Centre and will run from 6pm until 12pm. Some may want to come and pray for the whole time. Others may want to come and just pray for a section of it. However, our desire is that ALL members of Hill City join with us as we press-in, cry out, reach up and seek God together. Christians from other local churches are also very welcome to join us.
If we don’t pray we cannot expect God to move in our church … Read More »
Sunday 18th October is Anti-Slavery Day. We will be marking the day and raising awareness about human trafficking at Hill City Church by doing a Big Bake!
The Big Bake is a great initiative from Tearfund that mixes shining a light on human trafficking with the creation of incredible cakes – that then get sold in order to raise money to help those in the grip of modern day slavery.
So why not come and join for our service at 10:30am and join the Big Bake?
On Monday 8th June the ladies of Hill City are being treated to a special evening of sweet refreshments, good music and inspiring stories of faith.
The evening will feature healthy, yummy food prepared and served by Hill City’s ladies, along with live music from Abi Williams and testimonies from ladies of how faith in Jesus has affected their lives.
It promises to be a fantastic evening, but I’m afraid that it’s not one that the fellas will be able to enjoy as this is strictly One or the Girls!
Venue: Cold Barn Farm, Trevethin
Come and join us for an evening of good curry and banter on Wednesday 10th June.
We have booked out Pontypool Indian Cuisine* for a men’s curry night at which former Royal Marine’s Commando, James Richards, will be sharing his story of conversion to soldier of Christ.
We will sit down to eat at 7:30pm.
* Pontypool Indian Cuisine: 5 Town Bridge Buildings, Park Road, Pontypool, Gwent NP4 6JE
As part of our mission week we are excited to be hosting an evening at Bread of Heaven cafe in Pontypool at which we will seek to answer some of the big questions about life, God and the universe. It will be a great event to invite friends to, especially those who want to know what the Bible has to say about any questions / issues that they may be grappling with.
The event will take place on Thursday 11th June, starting at 7:30pm.
Entry is free and refreshments can by purchased throughout the evening.
It would be great to see you there.
On 7th June we finish our series in the Book of Acts.
Over the last 12 months we have been challenged as a church as we have studied the explosive origins of the early church and the gospel implications for us today. Therefore, as a statement of intent we are going to sign-off from the Book of Acts by starting as we mean to carry on – on mission! Consequently, we have set aside 7th – 13th June as a week of mission. As well as seeking to be intentional about personal evangelism and reaching out as gospel communities, there will also be a variety of outreach events and activities taking place during this week, details of which will be added to this page in due course. But here’s the plan so far:

A few months ago Pastor Dai Hankey spoke at a Hill City event seeking to raise awareness about the reality of human trafficking both globally and locally.
Further to that event, for those who have a heart to discover more about sex trafficking and how we could and should be responding to it then we encourage you to attend ‘Invisible Chains’ – an unforgettable, ‘in your face’, live experience that confronts us with the uncomfortable reality of sex trafficking, challenging us to stand against this brutal injustice.
This event is organised by our friends at Safe From Slavery and we cannot recommend attending highly enough!
We are delighted to announce that our next Soul Sessions event is going to be on Friday 26th June at Cwmbran Costa and will feature South Wales band Written in Kings (check out the video below).
The evening will consist of the usual blend of good coffee, good music, and a gospel message. We will also be profiling the incredible work of Compassion and providing an opportunity for children to be sponsored out of poverty from all over the world, including children at our partnership project in Burkina Faso.
Doors open at 7:30pm.
Entry is free.
A collection towards the work of Compassion will also be taken.
