This week we saw the Apostle Paul express his desire for the Thessalonian church to stand fast despite the schemes of the enemy designed to trip them up. He longs to visit them to impart what is needed for their faith to grow strong, but has been hindered to this point, sending Timothy instead who brings back a positive report of the churches growth. Persecution levels are rising rapidly. That’s what the research behind this year’s Open Doors World Watch List 2016 has found. And as persecution increases, our Christian brothers and sisters need us more than ever.

The World Watch List ranks the 50 countries where persecution against Christians is most severe. The list reports that persecution became more intense in more parts of the world in 2015. While North Korea remains the most difficult place in the world to be a Christian, persecution is growing most rapidly in Africa, especially sub-Saharan Africa. In the Middle East, Islamic State violence in Iraq and Syria has increased the pace of the exodus of the Christian population from the region and is also having a global impact.

This week we saw the final unveiling of what God was really doing as Joseph went through years of suffering and difficulty, only to find himself lifted up to the right hand of Pharoah as a Prince in Egypt. We also saw Joseph’s difficult decision to forgive his brothers and release them from any consequences for what they did to him all those years ago. However, later on we begin to see the unfolding of God’s great plan as Joseph is brought to Pharaoh and exalted to his right hand.
