Proverbs 31 vs 8-9 calls us to "speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute, speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy".

The Story So Far
In 2009 we met as a church to discuss and pray about the possibility of getting involved in a Compassion church partnership. God led us very quickly and unanimously to Burkina Faso, or more precisely to BF201 - Sim Paspanga Child Development Centre in Ouagadougou.
Thus the adventure began ...
Although there was some concern initially as to whether a church on an estate like Trevethin, with its own social challenges, would be able to commit to sponsoring children overseas, God's grace was clearly all over this venture. In no time at all, 20 children had all been sponsored by members of Hill City and our friends, prompting us to go back to Compassion to ask for more.
Dai and James wasted no time in traveling to Burkina Faso to visit the project to meet the children, and make the initial introductions between Sim Paspanga and Hill City Church. Please read the blog which gives details of the trip and demonstrates the passion and enthusiasm which God inspired on both sides of the globe during this first meeting.

Ongoing Projects
On their visit to Burkina Faso in January 2010, Hill City Pastors Dai and James asked the leaders at our partner church in Ouagadougou what the Compassion project's most pressing needs were. The 3 issues they identified were:
1. Mosquito nets for the children and their families
2. Play equipment for the centre and
3. The construction of classrooms to accommodate even more children from the community.
