On Thursday 6th Jan, some of the Hill City gang agreed to fast for the day as a way of standing with our brothers and sisters in Burkina Faso (and donate the money that was saved in the process). By abstaining from food, it allowed us to remember more keenly the struggle that these people often face on a daily basis for a simple thing like regular meals that we so often take for granted. That evening, after we had spent some time in prayer for our sponsor children, Compassion staff, the teachers and church leaders in Burkina Faso, we were blessed by Pete and Maggie who cooked Tô, a traditional Burkinabe meal for us to break the fast. They also taught us a little about the customs surrounding meal times in Burkina Faso which we then had to put in to practise - James/Naomi I hope the carpets have recovered, I think a few of us need a bit more practice at rolling up our food. It was a very enjoyable and informative time of fellowship with enough money being raised to complete the playground project.
The following fundraising events are in the planning stages for the coming months and we would ask that you pray for God's hand to be on all those people involved in organising, publicising, walking, running, DJ-ing, inflatable foot-balling and any other activity being under taken in the name of Jesus in order to reach our third and final (for now) target. There is a lot to do and time is of the essence and so we would also like to appeal to any friends of Hill City who feel that they have a bit of time to give to help out with any of these events to get in touch.
For those of you who have already given so generously - Thank you. With your help we have already been able to bless these children with 360 mosquito nets and a new playground as well as sending a consignment of bibles to a rural project - all in under a year - Praise God! However don't relax just yet, please keep digging deep and stretch yourselves that little bit further because God had raised the bar BIG TIME and we are stepping out in faith and obedience to reach it. Please keep the support coming for as many of the up-and-coming events as you can. Not just your money, but your time and prayers are so important for the successful outcome of this next challenge.
For anyone reading this who hasn't been involved so far - can I encourage you to jump on board? It's exciting, it's fulfilling, at times it's heart-breaking, but best of all - it's for the glory of God!

DJ Mix Marathon

Cwmbran Starbucks.
Pastor Dai Hankey raised £257.31 during his non-stop all day DJ-ing session to raise money for our Compassion projects. We would like to give a special mention to the staff of Starbucks, Cwmbran whose generosity not only allowed us the use of the coffee shop, but also managed to supply Dai with enough caffeine to keep him spinning the decks for a marathon eight hours of non-stop DJ-ing. Well done Dai.
Car Boot Sale
Saturday 23rd October, 2010
See the flyer
Entry fee for sellers was £5.00, which went directly to the compassion projects fund to help to provide vital protection from malaria and much needed playground equipment for our sponsor children in Burkina Faso. A huge THANK YOU goes out to all you people who supported the recent fundraising events and gave so generously. There was a slight change of plan thanks to the great British weather and the car boot sale became a table-top sale indoors!!! However, the principle was the same - the bargain hunters came and more funds were raised!
