Genesis Week 6: Babel

25th October

This week we saw the continuing corruption of the hearts of men following the flood as they tried to build a tower to reach heaven. Thankfully we also saw that we don’t need to reach up to heaven – heaven has come down to us. Below is the video to ‘Humble King’ by Brenton Brown, and also a link to download this weeks notes.

The Engine Room

22nd October

As a church we need to pray more, not only for our own personal and pastoral issues, but also for our communities, our valley, for salvation and for revival.

Prayer is the engine that drives the church. Therefore, starting on Friday 6th November we are launching ‘The Engine Room’ – a monthly half-night of prayer. The Engine Room will take place at The Hope Centre and will run from 6pm until 12pm. Some may want to come and pray for the whole time. Others may want to come and just pray for a section of it. However, our desire is that ALL members of Hill City join with us as we press-in, cry out, reach up and seek God together. Christians from other local churches are also very welcome to join us.

If we don’t pray we cannot expect God to move in our church … Read More »

Solid Joys

14th October

Hey guys, just wanted to share with you a great little app that has really helped me in my personal devotions recently. It’s the Solid Joys app that contains short daily nuggets of encouragement by Pastor John Piper.

While I don’t think that you can ever replace the joy and significance of digging into scripture for yourself, these kind of devotionals can certainly serve to supplement your devotional times. That has certainly been my experience with Solid Joys.

It’s a free app and is available from the App Store and from Google Play. Go check it out…

This week we looked at the terrible  judgment that sin brought upon the world, a picture of the final judgment that is to come, but we also saw the hope of the Gospel in the ark Noah built. Below is a link to this weeks notes and this weeks video – ‘For the Cross’.

Big Bake

5th October

Sunday 18th October is Anti-Slavery Day. We will be marking the day and raising awareness about human trafficking at Hill City Church by doing a Big Bake!

The Big Bake is a great initiative from Tearfund that mixes shining a light on human trafficking with the creation of incredible cakes – that then get sold in order to raise money to help those in the grip of modern day slavery.

So why not come and join for our service at 10:30am and join the Big Bake?

5th October

This week in our Genesis series we looked at the effects of sin on Adam and Eve’s sons Cain and Abel. We saw that sin is serious, that the state of our hearts really matters, and also the great hope there is in the mercy of God for those who respond in faith. Below is the video to ‘Inside Out’ by Hillsong, and also the link to download this weeks notes.
