23rd November

This is a little post that contains some BIG news!

Last night Michelle and I shared with our ‘sending’ church, Highfields, some news that we have already announced to our ‘home’ church Hill City – that we believe that God has called us to move back to Cardiff to plant a new church in a very diverse, transient and challenging area of the inner-city.

This is not a flash-in-the-pan decision. Far from it! In fact it goes all the way back to a powerful, supernatural encounter that I had with God back in April 2012. This encounter literally changed my life in a range of ways. It’s where Red Community and my passion for human trafficking ministry originate from. It’s also where this call to plant a new church finds its roots. I don’t believe that this blog is the right place to unpack all the specifics though I will be happy to share the … Read More »

10th November

For the last year or so we have been supporting a church planting initiative in Trelewis in the Taff Bargoed Valley.

Below is a brief update by team leader, Simon Matheson:

Over the past few months we’ve been slowly beginning to make a few contacts of people in the village of Trelewis, and a few have been interested in maybe joining us and finding out more. Our core group of 5 adults have been meeting fairly regularly, but not too consistently on time/place, and we felt that with the interest from others that we needed a more consistent meeting. So we’ve begun a meeting on Saturday evenings – a really informal get together, with a short Bible message, and then some food. They’ve gone well so far, but we really pray that the meeting would grow, and even provide a great springboard … Read More »

Trelewis Church Plant

4th February

Our desire is to be a church that plants churches that plant churches. This time last year we sent 2 couples to the Rhondda valleys to plant a new church and this year we have several projects in the pipeline. One of the areas that we will be planting is the Taff Bargoed Valley. Simon Matheson, who is heading up the church plant, explains more:

The Taff Bargoed Valley must be one of the smallest of the Welsh valleys. Home to not many more than 10,000 people in the villages of Nelson, Treharris, Trelewis, and Bedlinog, you could be forgiven for not even knowing of its existence. The area is beautiful, especially the Taff Bargoed Park running through the centre of the valley, but as with much of the valleys, many of the common problems associated with the closure of the … Read More »
