This is a little post that contains some BIG news!
Last night Michelle and I shared with our ‘sending’ church, Highfields, some news that we have already announced to our ‘home’ church Hill City – that we believe that God has called us to move back to Cardiff to plant a new church in a very diverse, transient and challenging area of the inner-city.
This is not a flash-in-the-pan decision. Far from it! In fact it goes all the way back to a powerful, supernatural encounter that I had with God back in April 2012. This encounter literally changed my life in a range of ways. It’s where Red Community and my passion for human trafficking ministry originate from. It’s also where this call to plant a new church finds its roots. I don’t believe that this blog is the right place to unpack all the specifics though I will be happy to share the … Read More »
On Sunday 8th February we have the joy of baptising several new believers from our church family.
As there is no baptistry at our current venue, the baptism service will be hosted by our friends at Noddfa Baptist Chapel (top of High Street, Abersychan).
Baptism is one of the most joyful occasions in the life of a local church as it testifies to the saving grace of God. Therefore, at Hill City we believe that every baptism service is a cause for great celebration – and you are warmly invited to join us!
The service will start at 6pm and refreshments will be served afterwards.
Our relationship with Acts 29 is such a blessing to us as a local church. As a church planting network they have been serving, supporting and equipping our Lead Pastor, Dai Hankey, in many ways and for many years now. However, they have recently graciously blessed our church family with an incredible gift. Check out this message that we recently received from them:
The leadership of Acts 29 is always looking for new ways to serve you as you shepherd the flock God has given you. Beginning this fall, we are excited to announce our partnership with RightNow Media to care for you, your family, and your church.
RightNow Media is essentially the “Netflix of Video Bible Studies.” Through this site you have instant access to thousands of outstanding videos covering a range of topics to challenge and encourage you. RightNow Media includes:

Proverbs 7 is a short film that has literally been several years in the making. The idea for the film was birthed a couple of years ago when we studied the Book of Proverbs together as a church. After reading the seventh chapter of Proverbs, Pastor Dai and Andy Toovey discussed how the story of the foolish young man and the adulteress in this chapter could easily apply to the folly of young men pursuing sexual gratification through pornography on the internet.
This short film is effectively a partnership between TorFilm and Red Community. It is our hope and prayer that it will be used by God to communicate a dynamic Biblical warning to young men (and women) about the dangers of pornography and that as a result many will be saved from this wretched online deathtrap.
At Hill City we are getting increasingly serious about wanting to go deeper in prayer individually, within our families and as a wider church family. Therefore yesterday was an exciting day for us as we introduced our new Hill City prayer co-ordinators, Andy and Sophie. They did a great job of leading us in prayer as a church family and also unveiled a new initiative to help us in our prayer adventure: Prayer Mob.
Prayer Mob is a simple daily text service that will be used to encourage members of Hill City Church in their daily devotions and keep us updated with latest news and prayer requests from across the church and our related ministries.
If you are a member of Hill City and would like to be part of Prayer Mob just let us know and join movement.
CAP Money is a simple, yet highly effective money management course that teaches people budgeting skills and a cash-based system that really works. This course will help anyone to get more in control of their finances, so they can save, give and prevent debt. The video below provides more details.
Hill City Church has partnered with Christians Against Poverty to offer CAP Money courses in our community. The service we offer is completely free.
Call Nathan on 07864907339 or email email@example.com to find out when the next course is running near to you.
Visit www.capmoney.org.uk to find out more about the course and to see where courses are running in other parts of the country.
Through our gatherings and other ministries we are increasingly connecting with people who are curious about the Christian faith and want to find out more about Jesus and what the Bible teaches. Therefore we are delighted to invite you to join us on a new course that we have just started to run called Christianity Explored.
Here’s a video to explain a bit more about how it works:
If you’d like to find out more, or to sign up for the course please do contact us.
