2 Day Cotswold Way Challenge 2010

Cotswold Way July 2010 After Pastors Dai and James visited Burkina Faso in January 2010, and talked to the leaders in the church, a plan for how we could best serve the people was put together. This included:

1. Providing mosquito nets for all the families of the sponsor children.
2. Providing playground facilities at Paspanga 201 (our partner church in Burkina).
3. Provide funding for a new classroom development project at 201.

Compassion have given us figures for all three propositions. To provide the mosquito nets and the playground facilities is a total of £1807.99 and the classrooms project will be something to consider later.

The Cotswold Way challenge was chosen to help raise this money. It was a hard challenge on purpose - because we wanted to give you a real incentive to give generously! By making a contribution, you can be a part of changing childrens lives in Burkina Faso!

The Cotswold Way
The Cotswold Way is a long distance walking trail that runs between the market town of Chipping Campden in the north, and the city of Bath in the south.

About The Trail
The Trail is 102 miles (164 km) long, and runs for most of its length on the Cotswold escarpment. It passes through many picturesque villages and close to a significant number of historic sites, including the Roman heritage at Bath, the Neolithic burial chamber at Belas Knap, Sudeley Castle near Winchcombe, Hailes Abbey and many beautiful churches and historic houses.

Who Did It?
James Richards & David Blackmore attempted to walk the Cotswold way in 2 days, which meant walking 50 miles a day.

When?
Monday the 2nd August to Tuesday the 3rd August 2010.

Why?
This challenge was to raise funds for the Hill City Church sister church SIM Pasapanga in Burkina Faso, which we are associated with through Compassion UK, an international Christian child development and child advocacy ministry. James & David were hoping to raise enough money to provide mosquito nets for the families and children, as well as other valuable causes.

2 DAY COTSWOLD WAY UPDATE
There is good news and bad news! David and James managed to walk 52.7 miles along the Cotswold Way from Chipping Campden to Painswick, however they were unable to continue and repeat this feat the next day! This means the bad news is that they didn't complete the original challenge (the bar was set very high on purpose!). However they did complete the...... COTSWOLD BACK 2 BACK MARATHON CHALLENGE! - 2 Marathons in one day over the rolling Cotswolds! We still consider this to be a great achievement and both lads walked further than they ever have before by over 20 miles. We hope you will still consider giving (graciously!) to the cause, and hope to fill you in with a more detailed update and some pictures soon!
